Everyone who reads this blog knows my passion for PapaKata!!! I just love these beautiful teepee’s from the York company and I am delighted to be associated with them and call them my friends.
PapaKata recently supplied teepee’s for Jamia 09 and pitched the teepee’s in the minster gardens – this is a photographic record of how beautiful they looked pitched at one of the most beautiful places in the city of York – The Minster.

Is it too late to say Happy New Year to everyone? Almost!
Well, i just wanted to wish everyone a very healthy , happy and prosperous new year. To all my clients booked for 2010 weddings – I am looking forward to shooting some special pictures for your very special days and to my 2009 clients – thank you we had some fun didn’t we?!!
We had a lovely christmas at our cottage. I love decorating my home and studio at christmas and with help from my favourite shop in York – Wild Hart, I got some sweet new decorations.

This is my favourite shop in York – it is called Wild Hart. Found in Stonegate, York, close to Mulberry Hall it is full of beautiful, country style things. I have been so inspired watching Jamie and Delia this year and Kirstie Allsopp’s ‘Kirstie’s Homemade Christmas’ and I picked up this sweet home made noel sign (below) for my mantelpiece from a local victorian craft fair.
I am mad about my new reindeers by the artist Joanna Coupland which I bought from Wild Hart with their twisty wire antlers.
What inspires you about each new season? Leave me a comment – I would love to hear!

Lucy and Jason came to visit at my new studio just before christmas as I am photographing their wedding in September. We had scheduled to shoot engagement pictures but we hadn’t counted on the snowy weather making everything look extra special.
Such a snowy day, the wind swirled the snow around us creating a romantic, snuggly wintery look.
If you have your wedding booked with me for 2010, why not book in for your engagement session? Your pictures can be made into save the date cards, placed on your mini cards advertising your online gallery or a piece of framed art called a signature board that all your guests can sign on your wedding day.
I couldn’t resist grabbing this shot whilst I was out shooting a wedding in York. The pumpkins were outside a gorgeous little fruit and veg store in Fossgate. I love shooting pictures of flowers and anything that is colourful. I always enjoy shooting the detail of a wedding day because I think it shows all the little things that make that couples day unique, the colour and mood of the day and the season. These pumpkins just shout autumn to me. Wonderful!

I really love shooting winter weddings and Amanda and John’s was no exception. They are just so sparkly and gorgeous!! I love the winter sun and the crisp blue skies, I love the fact that they start to have a wonderful special atmosphere as we approach christmas. We got a wonderful day for their wedding at Sandburn Hall, York and shot family pictures with Sandburn Hall as a background with the beautiful silvery moon coming up behind them.

Amanda’s flowers were very pretty and had a wonderful woodland feel about them

Mum Lesley and grandad who gave the bride away sharing a joke

Congratulations John and Amanda. I loved being part of your day. It was very special.

I am excited to announce the opening of my new boutique wedding photography studio in the village of Bishopthorpe, York. I am hoping to create a comfortable and fun client experience whether it is a first visit for a cappucino and a look through my sample albums, or a glass of champagne to celebrate after your wedding, at your album planning session. Perhaps you got married last year and would like to pop in for a cold bottle of bud and a catch up.
As a boutique studio I will continue to specialise in wedding photography and accept around 35-40 commisions a year. Expanding my business I will be offering engagement picures for all of my couples and also still be delighted to accept invitations to shoot pictures for my wedding couples who have started families.
We have converted an old farm building (once an old cowshed) into a client area and design studio office. Here are a few images which date from the first viewing of the space and then the work as it progressed (not all hard work, the last pic is Andy and Lee having fun with the fluorescent ‘light sabres’ !!!) . I will post some more pics of the finished space soon. If you would like to contact me at the new studio the number to call is 01904 777323.

Congratulations to Gemma and Paul who got married on Saturday. A really fun wedding! I met up with Gemma and the bridesmaids getting ready at The Mount Royal Hotel in York. Some of the guests were also staying there and we all travelled together to the church (St Stephen’s in Acomb) on a 1961 Routemaster red London bus with the original open air steps at the back. We got lots of attention from passers by! If you are interested in having this for your wedding this lovely bus is owned by Yorkshire Belle’s.

Gorgeous autumn colour and one of York’s most beautiful buildings as the reception – Merchant Adventurers Hall. The picture below is Merchant Adventurers just as I was leaving the party – it is Halloween and a full moon and I am standing in the very dark garden of one of Yorks oldest buildings in one of the most haunted cities!! There are people in fancy dress in the street above and something special in the air this evening. I imagine this building has seen many many clear starry skies and full moons and special occasions.

All the pictures are live on my online gallery now.

Beth and Mark had THE MOST BEAUTIFUL wedding on Saturday. St Helen’s Church at Escrick, York and a PapaKata teepee reception at Escrick Park Estate, York.
Escrick Park Estate was the perfect place for the teepee’s. A herd of little black sheep happily grazed all around the teepee’s and kept a watchful eye on everything going on! Mark, Beth and I and their Rolls Royce from Superior Motor Cars took a drive through the estate to shoot some special pictures by the pretty little temple, an old barn and amongst the crops growing nearby. I love the orange leaves scattered all around on the picture above and Beth and Mark having fun.
This is when Beth’s father saw her for the first time on the morning of her wedding

Such an amazing day. If you were a guest at this wedding, all of the images are available to view from this evening at www.annemarieking.co.uk using the password given on the wedding day.
Jessica and Darren got married on Sunday at St Peter’s Church in York. It was a gorgeous city centre wedding with the reception being at St Williams College. We made the most of the city and shot pictures from Bootham Bar – using the walls, the shops and The Minster as backdrops as we walked to the reception.
Jessica’s little brothers were pageboys and they looked so gorgeous in their little suits. Here they are watching the bride arrive.

I love the fountains at Exhibition Square – so romantic

St Williams College as I was leaving and the sun setting.

Congratulations to you Jessica and Darren – I know you are on honeymoon waiting for this post – I hope you are having a wonderful time
See you soon!
Hello! I am really enjoying this beautiful autumn weather. The sunshine has been lovely and has made photography such a joy. The sparkly sun, the golden and red leaves and the bracken turning from lush green to rust.
Heather and Nick got married on Saturday, they had a beautiful wedding at All Saints Church at Bolton Percy and held their reception at Hazlewood Castle near York. The bracken and the woodland surrounding the castle was stunning and Ken from Superior Motor Cars was great and we stopped on the drive up and shot some couple pictures.

It has been lovely getting to know Heather and Nick and the Johnston family in the run up to the wedding. Thank you for inviting me to be a part of your very special day. I loved it and as you know – I didnt want to leave!!
I’m back!! So, I haven’t posted anything in ages because I have been so busy getting out wedding albums and managing to squeeze a couple of short breaks in as well. I have been to Norfolk again with my mum and we had a lovely few days shopping in the ever gorgeous Burnham Market – not a market but a wonderful little village where The Hoste Arms can be found – one of my favourite all time places to stay and eat.
My husband and I also visited The Star Inn at Harome with my uncles, Ian and Angus. The rooms we had at Cross House Lodge were immaculate and full of goodies – home made biscuits, molton brown bubble bath, magazines – perfect. I have been gaining inspiration for my new boutique photography studio (more about this soon).
Anyway back to Gavin and Louisa whose wedding pictures I shot on Saturday. I love autumn and I love to shoot autumn weddings. Louisa pitched her theme perfectly for this time of year choosing beautiful subtle colour for her roses and for her bridesmaid dresses. The reception was held at Sandburn Hall which looked magnificent. The drive up to Sandburn Hall was fantastic, we stopped to shoot some romantic pictures with the car and Nicky from Superior Motor Cars was amazing as usual and very patient and very enthususatic about what I was doing (which is lovely). The field next to the drive had straw bales still – how could I resist – I just love the shape of them!! Louisa and Gavin kissing while Gavin leans Louisa back gently over the bale is pure romance!

Louisa made every piece of this stunning wedding stationery

Strensall common and autumn and a wedding and wonderful soft light – I loved it!

Congratualtions! Hope you are having a wonderful honeymoon.
Ann Marie and Sam are married!! They had a gorgeous wedding at Hazlewood Castle on Saturday with a silver and purple theme.
Ann Marie was bridesmaid for Cath and Steve whose wedding I shot pictures for three years ago. It was great to see the group of girls again who were all bridesmaids. Thanks for an amazing day and all your help, Kim, Cath, Sophie, Pavan and Rowena. I had a lot of fun.

I love it when the ivy at Hazlewood Castle turns this lovely red colour. It only happens for a few weeks a year.

Ann Marie was such a fun and beautiful bride to photograph
Gorgeous table details!

Claire and Mark had a lovely wedding on Saturday at St Mary’s, Strensall and their reception at Aldwark Manor.
Although there were a few showers, they soon cleared up and they had a wonderful day.

Melisssa and Paul are married!!Congratulations!!
Saturday saw me shooting pictures for Melissa and Paul at St Andrew’s in Bishopthorpe which is the village where I come from originally. Paul and I went to school together so I was especially honoured to be invited to shoot pictures for his special day.
The reception was at the fabulous Wood Hall Hotel which has the most gorgeous fields and big skies!! Those of you who read my blog regularly know how I love my gorgeous, romantic grey skies so I couldn’t resist stopping on Trip Lane on the way to Wood Hall for this shot.

Melissa’s friend Michelle from Petals of Perfection made the bouquets

Revellers transformed the reception room at Wood Hall. It really was a wow when you entered the room . The flowers were exquisite as was the lighting and the wonderful party atmosphere.

Hope you have a wonderful honeymoon. Cant wait to present to you your fabulous album design. A x
