BLUE & ANDY’S ENGAGEMENT SHOOT
I love this time of year when the bluebells are out in the wood. It was the perfect spot for Blue, because, well, she loves Blue! We had such a lovely time talking about their plans for the wedding (I am shooting their photographs next month), we talked about tree hugging, their beautiful wedding rings they have commisioned and all about my trip to Dungeness, laughing all the while as we traipsed through mud and leaves!
May 10, 2012 - 10:15 am - What beautiful photographs, they both look so natural and happy. Can't wait for the wedding photographs, well done Anne Marie. Anna's Mum
LYNDSAY & PAUL – CASTLE HOWARD BOATHOUSE
A truly stunning natural location, Castle Howards Boathouse is the most gorgeous place to have your country wedding.
Lyndsay and Paul met on match.com – they were 100% match for each other. You only have to meet them to know its true. They share an amazing sense of humour, they are both are so much fun and both incredibly generous in spirit. Once you have spent any time in their company you feel like you have known them forever! One of the things they matched 100% for was their love of film. This was one of the themes of the wedding day – their cake was in the shape of a cinema. Created by their friend Colin (who makes models for films) it was a model replica of a picture house including foyer and their names lit up in lights outside. Yes! The cake had lights!!
There were so many beautiful, personal little details to their day. Lyndsay and Paul made all the hearts that were hung on the back of the chairs and hand printed them with the words “May the 4th be with you”. Paul loves the fact that they got married on Star Wars Day – being a big fan.
Lyndsay and Paul held the first ever wedding at The Boathouse at Castle Howard. They exchanged vows on the decking overlooking the lake. Paul placed a beautiful diamond wedding band on to Lyndsay’s finger promising ” with this bling I thee wed”!! A pair of swans on the lake chose the same moment to perform their beautiful courtship ritual.
We cruised on the lake in Castle Howard’s vintage wooden boat, swallows flew all around us in the later afternoon sunshine. Guests enjoyed drinks on the decking. It was beautiful.

TRIP TO DUNGENESS
There’s a film called Phenomemon, its one of my favourites starring John Travolta and Kyra Sedgwick. Kyra’s character makes rustic chairs out of small branches of wood and offers them for sale at the garage that John’s character owns. Except that no one wants to buy these chairs because they are pretty ugly. But John’s character does buy them, because he secretly loves her. Because he understands it is her passion. Because he is interested in what she is interested in. So he keeps buying the chairs in the hope that she will call by with more chairs for him to sell. So that she can continue to do what makes her happy.
Last weekend my husband, Buzz, well, he “bought my chairs”. Every. Single. One. Of. Them.
We went to East Sussex for the weekend for my birthday and I visited a place that I have wanted to go to for 15 years. The place is Dungeness in Kent. Derek Jarman, the film maker and artist bought a small, beautiful, fishermans cottage there in 1986 and created a wonderful garden. A book was published. I bought it. The pictures were stunning. Derek’s diary entries drew you in to this magical place and the pace of his life at Prospect Cottage. I fell in love with the garden he created there on the shingle, the rusty metal sculptures he found, the use of the flint stones in circles and his gentle coaxing and nurturing of his plants that grew despite the sea spray and the wind.
Dungeness is a very special place. It is a site of special scientific interest. It is the largest shingle promontory in Europe. There are lichens here that do not grow anywhere else. It is flat and beautiful, skylarks and linnets fly overhead, in summer the shingle attracts honey bees and common blue butterflies. The nuclear power stations of Dungeness A and B hum in the background. Old abandoned fishing huts lean into the wind, long forgotten boats lie on the shingle. Bright blue fishing nets and rusty old winches lie waiting.
I spent two days here at Dungeness shooting photographs because I just loved it sooooo much.
Buzz, well, he kept me company and tried to love it too. Even while I took close ups of yellow lichen, old orange fishing nets and rusty metal.
I love that man : )
I hope you liked a peek into my world and what I love to shoot : ) Annemarie x
May 3, 2012 - 11:37 am - Wonderful to get to know you a little more... I love the look and feel of this place. From your photos I get a real sense of peace and thought fullness. A little like an old man in his rocking chair, to people looking at him he seems old and lonely but in his mind he is full of wonderful memories.
May 4, 2012 - 8:05 am - Fantastic atmospheric images, beautiful rusty textures, a real sense of isolation and things of the past - well done!
May 4, 2012 - 8:06 am - Oh and you look great too - Buzz takes quite a good shot himself!! lol
JENNA & TAK’S WEDDING – FEVERSHAM ARMS, HELMSLEY
Jenna and Tak had the most beautiful wedding at The Feversham Arms Hotel in Helmsley. The clouds threatened rain but delivered sunshine and guests enjoyed drinks around the pool. Jenna chose a cream and gold theme for her wedding and looked absolutely stunning in an Ian Stuart gown accessorised with diamonds and tumbling curls!! Tak surprised Jenna with a beautiful double diamond wedding band when it came time to exchange the rings. Their little girl, Beth watched the ceremony and Tak’s sister Lina read for them (above). Beth wore a cream dress and a gold headband and carried a wand decorated with a cream rose.
Venue: The Feversham Arms Helmsley
