I am just back from shooting a wedding at Aldenham this weekend. An extra special wedding for me because it was for family and for two of the loveliest people. On the hottest day of the year Laura and Nick married at Radlett church and held their wedding reception in a stunning marquee in the grounds of Aldenham school where they are both teachers.
Laura chose wonderful hot pink, turquoise and purple jewel colours for her wedding. The bouquets were stunning hot pink gerbera’s, cream roses and purple flowers and were studded with turquoise pins. The reception tables were decorated with black table cloths, black napkins and pink turquoise and purple favours matching the colour theme.
Everyone loved the dodgems, set up next to the marquee.
Congratulations to Laura and Nick – thank you for inviting me to be a part of your special day x

Laura loves squirrels! In fact Laura loves animals and woodland and nature. Laura and martin married at Sandburn hall in York on Saturday. Their theme was natural and fresh and just gorgeous. Local florist Fiona Hogg created the stunning flowers which were roses and rosebuds and honeysuckle. At Sandburn hall Laura had orchids and ribbons forming a beautiful floral curtain. The table names were animal – fallow deer table , water vole table and of course, the top table was squirrel table! Small woodland creatures (some finger puppets) were to be found and two squirrels decorated the top of the wedding cake.
I especially loved the wedding favours – wildflower seeds to attract bees.
We shot pictures around Sandburn Hall but also on the wild and beautiful strensall common. Superior Motor Cars were amazing and transported us there and back in their beautiful new 1939 Rolls Royce Wraith.

Rachel and Adam held their wedding at Goldsborough Hall near Harrogate this weekend. Such a lovely sunny day, guests enjoyed the string quartet and drinks and canapes on the lawns. Archie, the pageboy was a superstar and wore his little suit with pride and had fun running around. Rachel chose a hot pink theme for her wedding, the flowers were a mix of cream and pink roses and rosebuds in different shades, the bridesmaids wore hot pink and the confetti was hot pink rose petals.

York Maze is an amazing place to have your wedding! It has a gorgeous rustic country feel with a collection of barns where you can marry, hold your reception and have a great party with a band on their stage. Hayley and Kris held their wedding there on Saturday on the most beautiful sunny day. They married in the barn with the sunlight peeking through the wooden slats and lighting up the stone floor and up to the rafters. The barn was decorated with cream roses, ribbons and blue thistle.
Hayley and her bridesmaids (sisters Jenna, Alice and Sophie) all carried gorgeous hand tied roses.
I loved the vintage country table where Hayley and Kris signed the register , the cupcake cakes with the little flags, the lanterns, the wooden tables and benches at the reception and of course the bouncy bouncer thing that all the kids LOVED!! (see below)
The York Maze is surrounded by countryside and so Kris, Hayley and I decided to go for a drive and shoot some pictures in the fields nearby. When we got to the place I had scouted, we found some gypsies had tethered one of their horses to the path. He was really gorgeous with a big shaggy mane and so he made his way into one of my pictures!
I stayed to shoot speeches and later Kris’s dad ‘Thick as Thieves’ played on the stage.
Congratulations to Kris and Hayley – see you soon for your album planning session x

Hayley and Kris had a lovely wedding at the amazing York Maze on Saturday. I have so much to share about their day but, for now just a quick ‘taster’ and lots more to come tomorrow.

I have had such a busy couple of weeks and I have so much catching up to do on my blog. I have shot lots of pre wedding shoots lately and hope to share some of those pictures with you soon. I also wanted to tell everyone about my lovely greyhound, Patch, who was a doggy ambassador for the Retired Greyhound Trust last weekend! On Sunday, Patch and I attended Bramham horse trials where we volunteered on the Retired Greyhound Trust stand. Patch wore a red bib with the words ‘greyhounds are pets’ and his job was to meet and greet visitors to the stand. Karen Fraser is the person who runs the North Yorkshire RGT branch. Karen rehomes ex racing greyhounds and she is the person who matched Patch with our family (we have a miniature dog as well!) I was so proud of Patchie and despite the rain, he loved hanging out with the other greyhounds, Millie and Squirrel and meeting all the visitors to the stand.

I encourage my clients to friend me on facebook. Gemma did and it has really brought me a lot of pleasure (not to mention insight) to see her plan her wedding, swap details with her girlfriends, laugh while viewing the hen do pictures, see her post and share the engagement pictures that I shot for them and see Gemma grow more excited as the day approached. I have so enjoyed the journey because facebook has given me a glimpse into how it feels to be a bride again (Its been a while since my wedding!) and also what is important to my brides. I love getting to know my couples and I really think it makes a difference on the wedding day. I hope my couples also enjoy getting to know me through my blog and on facebook and perhaps some of my work provides inspiration for bridal scrapbooks etc!!
Saturday was a brilliant and sunny day. Gemma chose pink as her wedding colour and her flowers were gorgeous creams and pink roses. The ceremony was held at St Mary the Virgin, Goldsborough and reception at The Crown at Boroughbridge.
Congratulations to Drew and Gemma. Thank you for inviting me to be a part of your special day.
